Grosso, Johannes

Born in 1987, Johannes Grosso is solo oboe in Frankfurter Opern- and Museumsorchester. He was member of Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France (2011-2015) and worked for one season in Gewandhaus Orchester Leipzig (2010-2011).

He began to discover the Oboe with Bernard Bonnet at the Music College in Nantes and kept on with his studies in Paris with Daniel Arrignon. Then he was admitted in the CNSMD in Lyon (class of Jean-Louis Capezzali and Jerôme Guichard) where he received a 1st Prize with distinction in 2011, then The Artist Diploma in 2013.

In may 2014 Johannes was awarded the 1st Prize of the prestigious Prague Spring International Music Competition . He had already won the French Oboe Association Competition (Brussels, 2007), the 5th International Competition Giuseppe Tomassini in Petritoli (Italy, 2010), the Asian Double Reed Society Conpetition (Taïwan, 2013) and got the 2nd prize of the Gillet-Fox competition, organized by the International Reed Society (USA, 2013). In 2010, he is laureate of the Foundation Musique et Vin au Clos Vougeot.

Johannes plays the famous oboe concertos with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Czech Radio Orchestra, the Tapei Symphony Orchestra, the Neues Bachisches Collegium Leipzig, the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia with conductors such as Christoph von Dohnanyi, Peter Csaba, Hansjörg Schellenberger. In this way he plays as a soloist in renowned concert halls like Semperoper ( Dresden), salle Gaveau (Paris), Rudolfinum (Prag).

During his studies he was selected to play in the best youth orchestras like Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester, Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, Verbier Festival Orchestra or Orchestre Français des Jeunes.

At present he is regularly invited to play as solo-oboe in prestigious orchestras like the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Gewandhaus Orchester Leipzig, Francfort Radio Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, l’Ensemble Les Dissonances.
