Polónyi, Ágnes

Harpist Ágnes Polónyi graduated with a cum laude from the Liszt Academy in 2000, having been a student of Andrea Vigh. She has been an active participant at master-classes given by Ion Ivan Roncea, Milda Agazarjan, Sioned Williams and Anna Lelkes. A contemporary performer at heart, she has been a member of Intermoduláció, the EAR Ensemble, Componensemble and UMZE productions. In 2009 she won the Artisjus Award for her contribution to presenting and popularising contemporary Hungarian works of classical music. She has been performing since she was 16, as a soloist and a chamber musician, and has taken part in the Budapest Spring and Autumn Festivals, the Mini Festival, the Zemplén Festival and Sziget Festival. She has performed at the Liszt Academy’s Great Hall, the Old Music Academy, and in various cities in Hungary and abroad. Hungarian Radio regularly plays her chamber recordings, while her recitals have also been recorded by Hungarian Television. She has performed on countless CDs as both a soloist and chamber musician. In October 2005 she was one of the soloists at the Gödöllő International Harp Festival. That same year she received the Annie Fischer Scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Culture. She was a guest professor for the 2009-10 academic year at Graz University of Music and Performing Arts. She has been a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra since 2006, and the orchestra’s solo harpist since 2007. She was one of the winners of the 2009 Sándor Végh Competition. With the musical education of children and young people playing a central role in her life, she is a regular participant of the Festival Orchestra’s youth programmes.
