Having begun to play the violin at the age of eight, he graduated with distinction in 1991 from the violin department of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. In 1988 he won second prize in the Zathureczky Violin Competition, and first prize in the 1990 Leó Weiner Chamber Music Competition. Between 1988 and 1990 he was concert master of the Liszt Academy's symphony orchestra, and between 1992 and 1994 a student at the Freiburg College of Music. He has been a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra since 1994. In 1994 he formed the Erdődy Chamber Orchestra, of which he is leader and artistic director. The focus of this ensemble’s activity is 18th and 19th century Hungarian-related music. He has presented more than a hundred pieces with his orchestra, including numerous radio recordings, 13 CDs and one DVD. His recordings have twice won the Le Monde de la Musique "Choc" Award. in 2002 his ensemble received the Hungarian Gramofon magazine’s "Hungarian ClassicalMusic Award", and in 2005 the Academy Club Artistic Award. In 2008 he obtained his Ph.D. degree at the Franz Liszt Academy of Budapest.
