Orsolya Mód began to study music at the age of 8 at the music school in Szentgotthárd in western Hungary. Her solo performance with the Wiener Kammerorchester led by Sándor Végh was the formative experience of her childhood. She has since won first and other prizes at several national and international cello competitions. She was a member of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra between 2005 and 2007. She graduated from the Liszt Academy in 2007, having been in the class of László Mező. As a principal of various international youth orchestras, she worked with such illustrious conductors as Sir Colin Davis, Valery Gergiev and Christoph Eschenbach. In 2009 she received the Annie Fischer Scholarship and the special prize of the BFO’s Sándor Végh Competition. She gained her DLA degree in 2014. Actively involved in chamber music, Orsolya has been a member of the Rondo String Quartet since 2003 and the Budapest Festival Orchestra since 2007.
